  15. It is indeed a distressing situation unprecedentedly so what the Covid-19 has unleashed upon us. Mankind is certainly hapless and helpless under its clutches. Things have come to such a pass that lakhs are dying and millions are having to work with much reduced wages and many more millions have lost their jobs! I have even read about some private school teachers who lost their jobs forced to explore hitherto unthought of means of earning like setting up tea points and selling vegetables. So to students whose families are having to face similar situations I tried to boost their muh sagged spirits by saying that this is a passing phase and not a perpetual calamity. I urged to them read books solve puzzles watch some useful programmes in the telly, learn a new language and try their hand at cooking. In a nut shell I tried to see to it they stayed occupied doing something useful so as to not fall prey to gloomy notions. Also suggested them to help their parents by not making unreasonable demands and even giving a hand in the new tasks the parent(s) may have plunged in to find other means o making the ends meet

  22. As school and childcare closures become widespread, many working parents are faced with limited or no childcare options. Some may even be compelled to leave younger children with limited supervision, compromising their safety. Employers can support these parents in numerous ways, including through childcare referral systems (in places where childcare remains available and safe), subsidies and flexible work arrangements.
For parents who perform essential on-site duties, employers can protect them by maintaining clean and hygienic workplaces, and providing handwashing stations with running water and soap, or alcohol-based hand rubs where washing facilities are not readily available. Working mothers should be supported to continue breastfeeding in clean and comfortable breastfeeding facilities. Employers can also help protect all workers – including those who work remotely – by sharing key messages on prevention measures, travel guidance and ways to talk to their children about the virus.

  143. In today's society where mostly both the parents are working, the Lockdown imposed a major obstacle for these parents and that was the closure of schools and child care centeres. These parents also had to work from home but taking care of the children became an additional responsibility. It is here that we as teachers played an important role of not only making the students understand the stressful situation of their parents but also counsel the parents and make them sensitive towards the needs of the children.
The pandemic has affected the livelihood of many people across the world. The students should be made aware that during this pandemic many parents are suffering from financial problems and are experiencing tough times like millions of others. So I would suggest the students to listen to their parents and they should not demand unnecessary things. Tell them to support their families and be thankful for whatever is being provided by them. Changes are required in the lifestyle of all the people.
I would suggest such parents to have alternate source of income. They should be encouraged and support should be provided for taking up new opportunities

It is very difficult to understand the situation of such a student who might have had to mature beyond his years because of situational factors. The most we can try to do is provide a safe space to vent out, provide meaningful and genuine support and if at all we know anything or anyone who can help the person sort through things practically, we must provide them so. Being a psychologist I can also suggest a few mental well being strategies.

Those households in particular wherein there was only one breadwinner for a big family was left in great sorrow when COVID-19 came into existence. some had to bid farewell to their profession , others suffered a considerable amount of pain and loss in their fields. We as mentors could act as a great support mechanism to the children of the affected families by showing them the path , by encouraging and motivating them to not give up, by making them understand that every big problem has hidden solutions , by making them realize that after every storm there comes sunshine. Also, we could make ourselves available when they are in need. all these if taken care of will be quite boosting and strengthening for the children.
