I think child abuse happens when a child is abused by his/her parents at home,or it can be a child's father is a drunken man, who comes home late at night abusing him , as a child who have is under control of his father ...tends to abuse or bully his classmate as a revenge to his father.

Child abuse can be child neglect , emotional, physical or sexual abuse . Child abuse is more than bruises and broken bones. While physical abuse might be the most visible, other types of abuse, such as emotional abuse and neglect, criticising, rejecting, degrading, ignoring, isolating, corrupting, exploiting and terrorising a child may leave deep, lasting scars. Unfortunately, the abuse of children in schools be it primary or secondary is more common than perhaps thought as a child is exposed to teachers, peer group , residential workers, caretakers, and other school staff and as abuse can be in any form . Child abuse can be prevented and responded by Educators and through Acts/Laws in schools

ReplyDeleteChild abuse can be child neglect , emotional, physical or sexual abuse . There are many reasons on why child abuse happens in school. Emotional Abuse on child happens we the teacher or the educator insults them by referring to them as idiots or brainlesss infront of other students just because the child could answer a question. Physical Abuse on a child happens when the teacher or the educator hits them or hold them with strong grip. A child feels neglected if the teacher does partiality.

ReplyDeleteImproper Monitoring of students also lead to child abuse. If a child is left unattendedly for a longer period undue advantage on it can be done by anyone. Fixation of CCTV cameras, to certain extent, can control it.

ReplyDeleteSometimes, children who are neglected at home bully younger kids in school to vent out their frustrations. Adults with dissatisfied sexual needs from spouse try to exploit the kids at school because of their tender age and inability to understand things most of the times. There is not one type of person who causes child abuse. Most of the time a child knows the abuser well. Sometimes people who abuse children were abused when they were children. Personal mental health issues, including low self-confidence and feeling of incompetence or shame often put the children into mental or physical abuse. Kids are too young and can be lured to gifts. Hence, adults get an opportunity to inflict abuse on kids at school, home, parks, etc.

Often children do not have the words to use to let someone know what is happening to them. Lack of moral values in persons or some kind of Fear among the people because of some horrible past is also another reason.

ReplyDeleteAbuse needs proper understanding, sometimes the victim may be unaware of what is happening and might think it to be the norm. Awareness of rights and laws should be made mandatoy in the curriculum.

Children don't have knowledge about these types of bad activities. They feel uncomfortable and so bad but fail to understand what is going with him/her and fail to convey his/her feeling to elders. They start living alone and sad. It can be happen with them at any place, to stop this we should be aware and take care of the child and make them aware also to stop these activities.
Child abuse can happen everywhere and in broad daylight as well and not necessarily in the night when it is dark. Can occur at home and at school and various other places. And the abuse can be of various kinds- even most deplorably sexual as well. The fact that even boys are abused that way is something which most of us do not know. At school it can happen if especially the head of the school and teachers are not alert and on their toes all the time. Since children are with us for almost seven hours the onus is upon us to take care of them in all respects. Younger children can be abused by their seniors at school. Like we must never encourage friendship of any intimate kind between a class IX boy with his senior say a class XII boy. the Class IX boy is quite impressionable and can easily be influenced by the senior. It doesn't happen always but then one never knows! Just watch the serial CRIME PATROL - I saw in an episode how the Principal of a school abused a girl student to no end and threatened her all the time of dire consequences if she revealed the horrific things happening to her to anyone. And when she did all the other teachers blamed her and her parents would hear nothing of it! Children therefore are vulnerable enough to be exploited at school as well as at home . They should be treated like mimosa plant by all and made to feel emotionally secure. Since at school such an ambience is not always there children become hapless and helpless victims to some monster lurking in the corner. Lack of awareness , fear of elders (including parents), needless guilt makes them easy targets of paedophiles!

ReplyDeleteChild abuse is one of the biggest threat faced by our society these days as children are the most vulnerable element and these young blossoms do not have the knowledge of right and wrong. So they are easily accessible to the sick mentality people. I think proper education and knowledge should be infused in these young blossoms so that they can distinguish between right and wrong.

There can be enormous reasons for the same and abuse itself has many forms. A child is very small to differentiate between what is good and what is bad...the fear of disclosing something bad or ill happeneing to him or her...negligence on part of parents as well as the teachers....We as a stakeholders need to be more vigilant and need to be more observant about the child's behaviour and if having any hint or clue then need to be proactive in taking utmost care of the child and bringing him or her out of the situation by helding his /her hand.

The school should create a safe learning environment, identify pupils who are suffering or at risk of harm and take suitable action. The school also needs to train staff in child protection.

It may start from the child's home atmosphere, school mates in the campus, faculty time table (management), lax supervision and inadequate sensitization regarding child's right and dignity. The ignorance regarding the various Acts like POSCO and UNCRC may also be included in this list.

During this stage, children are very tender and innocent. They can't comprehend certain aspects of adults' untoward behaviour. As such, many such children are soft targets of child abuse. Child abuse happens in school because the child is unable to confide freely with his parents at home. When he/ she comes in contact with people at school who show sympathy and sweet talk them to believe that they are genuinely concerned about them then the child can be easily abused. Lack of sensitivity among the teachers or the stake holders to the issues of children under their care. Physical abuse is often seen in schools when teachers do not consider the dignity of children to be of importance. Children are bullied in the school. Unfortunately many children do not have the courage to stand up for their rights as they fear repercussions. Many adults and children are also unaware about the various acts that protect children from Child abuse. Hence these should also be a part of curriculum.

ReplyDeleteIt is not always happening in all over the place but yes there can be chances of such an act being committed. For this I believe that the administrative head has to be very vigilant . A complaint box and strict action (judicial, criminal case) and severe punishment is required.

Most of the time a child gets friendly with frequent visitors ,which results in different forms of abuse.. ReplyDelete1. Our society has a tendency to create certain biases in a person's mind since his/her beginning/forming years itself. This may result in teachers and even children behaving in an inappropriate and insensitive manner towards children coming from economically weaker sections, with disabilities, with broken families, etc. Mocking and neglect can happen even unintentionally.
ReplyDelete2. The actual personality and state of a person is very difficult to discern from the outside. Hence, it is difficult to identify a sexual abuse perpetrator from among a crowd of people who are regularly interacting with a child, especially a young one.

Every one were busy in the struggle of life. In present time the child is not aware about the struggle of life. He/She is fully dependent on his/her parents. There are many factors involved in Child abuse happening in the schools. One may be the influence of the home scenario which affects the child and makes them to explore on their own. Lack of proper sex-education, non awareness of GOOD TOUCH AND BAD TOUCH, non conducting of the AEP in the Vidyalaya, depriving the child the opportunity to share the issues with the proper authorities. Lack of proper training, or absence of counsellors in the school. Early detection of a case by a smart teacher by studying the body language, expressions of loneliness, keeping to oneself, or fear in the eyes should be noticed at the right time to prevent the abuse.

Sometimes abuse of children occur when the parents are unable to cope with their own problems, so they may take this unhappiness out on the children. If children are physically disciplined, they often become abusive parents. Religious believes can foster child abuse either. Often children became religious victims of groups. Child abuse occurs in `traditional' households, where money is no problem AND in `poor' families, where the parents may live seperated. Sometimes child becomes adamant on repeated criticism.

Lack of awareness , depriving the child from sharing such issues with proper authorities, Lack of proper training, or absence of counselors in the school, sheer negligence from responsible individuals are some of the major causes of child abuse.

School is the place where future is nurturing so at that place abusive behaviour identification is acute tough. It is result due to the unawareness of authority.

It can happen in peer group, may happen from Teacher's side if child is not able to complete its work, in might be happen unknowingly in any form so we have to be sensitive and careful towards children.

There could be many reasons for the same. Lack of knowledge on children's part that such a behaviour is termed as abuse and hence they think that what is happening to them is normal. Again, like explained by Walia madam in the video, the abuser grooms the child for the process hence the trust the bond works against the child. Thus, not just the teachers but also the children, and parents must be sensitized about this aspect.

ReplyDeleteChild abuse happens in school only when we as stakeholders are negligent about our duties and responsibilities. Child abuse is almost always preventable. It requires a level of recognition in the part of parents and caregivers. Adults or other authority figures in the child's life, such as a teacher, coach or caregivers should be vigilant about the child's safety in all respect than it may be physical, sexual, emotional abuse or ever neglect.
A growing number of children under the age 10 are living with anxiety and are vulnerable to abuse. Another big factor may be the abuse of power by teachers. According to me, the various stakeholders in the school should thoroughly understand the forms and root causes of child abuse so as to be able to fight this scourage.

ReplyDeleteChild abuse can be happened anywhere but if it is happening in the school then the negligence of stakeholders and shy nature of child as well as recognition or sensitization of child towards such incidents may be responsible. We have to be alert (on our toes) during school hours so that such incidents may not happen.

Depression, fear of a certain adult, difficulty trusting others or making friends, sudden changes in eating or sleeping patterns, inappropriate sexual behavior, poor hygiene, secrecy, and hostility are often signs of family problems and may indicate a child is being neglected or physically, sexually, or emotionally they are not aware and do not understand of what is happening to them, I think proper education and knowledge should be infused in these young blossoms so that they can distinguish between right and wrong.

So child abuse may occur in school even if Head and all teachers may be utmost careful and sensitive to child abuse. It can be effectively reduced with cooperation and coordination of all stakeholders of an adult age.

When cordial and friendly relationship is lacking between the students and their teachers, the students are unable to share their plight with them and CA continues.

In India, parents never discuss such issues including Sex education with children at home. This is one of the important reasons for Child abuse in schools.

But unfortunately, we all are aware that Child Sexual Abuse instances have taken place in school premises or school buses. Guardian should ask his/her child every day report of school or any where ,where child goes to learn or play. They should discuss such issues including sex education .It can prevent most of the abuses which child suffers.
