  12. Water shortage is "the" problem of today. Scarcity of drinking water will be exacerbated as rapidly growing urban areas place heavy pressure on neighbouring water resources. By 2025, an estimated 1.8 billion people will live in areas plagued by water scarcity, with two thirds of the world's population living in water stressed regions. This number is expected to reach around 5 billion by 2050.
Or state government in Uttarakhand has been taking small initiatives towards water conservation. One of the projects steered by the government include building of small dams in the the various tributaries/ fresh water streams, creeks. This serves two purposes. Primarily, the aim is to collect water and provide the same to the residents of the city to cater for their fresh water needs. Secondly, the collected water may seed into groundwater, thereby replenishing the already dwindling ground water levels. One of the dams being constructed under the project is Jamdani Dam in Nanital.

  43. In my state of Maharashtra, some of the educational schemes being carried out are :-
    1) Project Tejas aims to make 51,000 Maharashtra State Govt. school teachers skilled in spoken English by 2021. Tejas is a significant step in this direction, leveraging technology to provide a collaborative learning platform.
    2) The Gund model of education in Maharashtra:-
The 'Gund' model has made the school technology-friendly. Today Digital School Movement in Maharashtra has picked up. Over 89% of government schools are equipped with digital learning. This success owes its credit to persistent efforts of teachers like Mr. Sandeep Gund, who paved the way for digital education in government schools when it was beyond imagination for many.
    3) Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree Scheme :- From 1st August 2017, Women and Child Development Dept. Govt. of Maharashtra has started implementation of First-of-its-Kind scheme “Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree”. Under this scheme, Govt. shall provide Financial Assistance as follows:
    a) One Girl Child: Rs.50,000 for a period of 18 years.
    b) Two Girl Children: Rs.25,000 each on the name of both the Girls.
    c) Benefits applicable only to the Families having monthly income upto 7.5 Lakhs and only
after submission of Family Planning Certificate.
    d) The families can withdraw accumulated interest after every six years.

    4) Bal SangopanYojna (Family Based Care for Children) :- Under this programme, a substitute family care is provided for a temporary period to children whose parents are not able to take care of their children due to several reasons including illness, death, separation or desertion of one parent, or any other crisis. Since every child needs and has the right to be cared for in a family, foster care is a programme whereby a home is provided for the child for a short or extended period.
A grant of Rs. 425 per child per month is given by the govt. to the foster parent(s) through an NGO for meeting the basic expenses of the child. The implementing NGO is given a supporting grant of Rs. 75 per month per child to meet administrative expenses, including home visits.
    5) Free education to girl students upto 12th std :- The scheme is implemented without any income obligation. The scheme is applicable to Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools/Junior Colleges of State Government, Zilla Parishad, Municipal Corporation, Nagar Palika. Also, girls in Private recognised Aided Schools and Non-aided Institutes (which are charging Government determined Education fees) which runs Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools/Junior Colleges are eligible for benefit under the scheme.
    6) Maharashtra Education Portal:-
SARAL - Systematic Administrative Reforms for Achieving & Learning by Students.

    7) Pavitra Portal: Maharashtra Shikshak Bharti 2019 started Pavitra Portal by Maharashtra Government under Mega Bharti 2019 to provide transparent recruitment process.
